Our plug and play PS2 scanner works good on all computers with a PS/2 keyboard (see pictures). If you are on a budget, this is a good scanner. You have to get fairly close to the barcode (1" to 2"), but it works good, and will read all standard barcode symbology types, including upc, fedex, ups, codabar, code39, isbn/books, i2of5, and more, and is compatible with all systems because of how it works. Beware: Many PC makers are using only USB and not supporting this port in the future, but it will work on all PCs that have this type of keyboard jack (see below). |
How It Works:

It simply plugs into your PC keyboard ps/2 port (no software or drivers needed). That's it. You share this port with your regular keyboard, it has a "y" splitter cable, see picture. You are ready to scan any barcode (ALL types supported, including UPC, Code39, ISBN, I 2 of 5, 128, 93, Codabar, much more, except postnet). It is a "keyboard wedge". We give you no software. It is plug and play. You plug it in, and it can type along with your regular keyboard, your PC just thinks you are a super fast typist. That's it. Anyway, after you scan the barcode, the digits are input to your PC wherever your cursor was, as if you typed it. You can also have the gun insert an ENTER or TAB key automatically after the scan.
